Well we started 2015 with a bang.
No sooner did everyone get over New Years Eve yet again we have been under attack. These attacks have been going none stop for the past few days. Due to changes and upgrades we did last year when we were DDoS'd we are weathering the storm a little better this year. For the most part the site is on-line.
From time to time as you login/browse Bitsoup you might see a screen that says:

1. This is to help ensure only real people are connecting to the site.
2. Helps lower the amount of load the web server is under.
3. Helps to lower the BW being sent to us to keep costs down.
That is the the problem is To ensure Bitsoup is able to stay on-line during an attack we bought extra bandwidth for the what if. Now if we don't use it doesn't cost us anything. So far in the past few days we have increased our costs by nearly 15%.
Some members are shy to come on site thinking there is no site or that we closing down.
This is all having a bad affect on site usage and donations. We have reached our goal for Dec but so far Jan is really low except the run off from December Promo. At the current rate we are going to be down at least 30% of not more due to added BW costs and lack of donations.
The goal of these attacks is for us to be knocked offline/or members leave the site/and to run down donations so that we cant pay the bills. As said many times we will do what needs to be done to keep Bitsoup going but we always need the members help.
